Programs
At Heartland Free Grocery and Kitchen, our programs are designed to do more than just provide food, we aim to restore dignity, build community, and create lasting change for individuals experiencing food insecurity in Kansas City.
Prepackaged Groceries
Since our start in 2024, we have been providing essential items to individuals experiencing homelessness across the Kansas City metro area. We distribute approximately 60 prepackaged grocery bags each month, a total that provides approximately 5,000 to 7,000 pounds of food and essential supplies to those in need.
Future Initiatives
Heartland Free Grocery and Kitchen is currently focusing on distributing groceries, toiletries, and clothing. In the future we will expand our offerings to include:
Work study credit hours for high school volunteers
Separate facilities for both males and females to take a shower
On-site social worker visits to link clients to social services
